Each year, Iowa’s Jazz Station invites a native Iowan leading the national jazz scene to return to Iowa for a headline appearance. Dick Oatts grew up in Jefferson, Iowa, and has gone on to become one of the world’s leading saxophonists. He’s recorded ten CDs as a leader, appeared on dozens more, and is a veteran of groups like the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra, Flim & The BBs, Dial & Oatts, and many more. He is currently the artistic director of the Village Vanguard Orchestra, appearing regularly at their legendary Monday gigs in Greenwich Village. A student ensemble will join Dick for part of the program.
Tickets to this event are non-refundable.
