Come join us for a supernatural opera experience. Set in Pittsburgh in the 1950s, we meet Madame Flora, ‘The Medium,’ as she holds séances in her parlor conning grieving parents into believing they are communicating with the spirits of their dead children. Her daughter Monica as well as Toby, the young man they have taken into their home, assist her until suddenly the line between make- believe and reality begins to blur, and this realization sends Flora down a hauntingly perilous path.
“More than anything, it is Menotti’s theatrical genius -- his ability to touch audiences directly -- that has helped put life back into modern opera.” High Fidelity/Music America
