About the Show:
This is the endearing classic about a mouse named Stuart who is born into an ordinary New York family. The many adventures - both big and small - of Stuart Little are brought vividly to life in this story-theatre presentation. The acting ensemble plays many human and animal roles in a series of scenes that make up the marvelous maneuverings of a mild-mannered mouse trying to survive in a "real people's world".
Thank you for your interest in the upcoming production of the play Stuart Little. Please note this is a live production that will be produced on the Coralville Performing Arts Stage. Actors will be required to wear masks during rehearsals. Performances of this show will be unmasked. Audience members will be masked.
There are three performances. If you audition, you must be able to commit to this:
- Friday, April 1 at 7:00 PM
- Saturday, April 2 at 2:00 PM
- Saturday, April 2 at 7:00 PM
Rehearsals run Monday - Thursday from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM. Not all actors will be called to all rehearsals. Rehearsals start Monday, February 14. Please list all conflicts on your audition form. Any conflicts that come up later or are not listed on the form will have to be negotiated with the director.
Tech week begins with loading into the theatre on Sunday, March 27th. No absences are permitted during tech week. Note that there will be rehearsals during Spring Break.
The CCPA and Young Footliters are committed to making theatre safely and responsibly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The link below contains our current policy for addressing COVID-19, and communicating with production members and families.
Casting is open to actors in Kindergarten through 6th grade.
Friday, January 14 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Saturday, January 15 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The Coralville Center for the Performing Arts, 1301 5th Street, Coralville. Please use the underground parking entrance. The entrance will be marked "Young Footliters Auditions".
All auditioning students will perform a monologue (if they want solo lines) during their audition. They may be asked to do a short improvisation (no preparation necessary for that).
Preparing for Auditions:
- Reading Audition:
If any student is interested in a solo speaking part, they should memorize a monologue of their choice of 1 minute or less. Students should choose a monologue that shows their ability to create an interesting character. There are books of monologues available online and at most public libraries. There are also monologues available at the "Young Footliters Auditions" stand on the lobby counter in the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts.
Please click on the following link to be directed to an audition form. At the end of the form there will be an additional link that you will click on to be directed to schedule an audition time. If you are also considering auditioning for Aristocats, this one sign up will suffice. You will indicate on the form which show(s) you are interested in.
All audition slots are now full. Thank you for an extraordinary turnout for these shows! To be added to the waitlist, please complete the audition form below and send an e-mail to Elizabeth Tracey. If an audition slot opens up, we will contact those on the waitlist.
Participation Fee & Scholarships:
For students cast in this production, Young Footliters has a $45 participation fee. This fee helps to make our show possible, and covers a portion of our production costs such as costumes, sets, props, painting, royalty rights, performance and rehearsal facilities.
We believe theatre participation should be possible for every student. Young Footliters is committed to providing scholarships to all students who require one, and we never turn away a student for inability to pay participation fees. Scholarships are available through the Revier Family Scholarship Fund for families with financial need. Please contact Evan Hilsabeck to receive a scholarship form.
